What kind of hotel do you want? We stayed at an old non-western hotel in the old city, called the Dong Xuan; it didn't look like much drom the outside (but at $12 a double we really didn't expect it to), but had, in addition to a .... stops at a cafe for lunch (not included in price) so no need to bring food with you.
